New without box. Unused condition. One tiny manufacturer's defect on the upper area of the Candle Holder, Please see the last photo for more detail. These beautiful candlesticks are made from prunings of Holy Land olive trees and no trees are destroyed in the process. The prunings are essential to the healthy growth of these special trees that live to be hundreds of years old. The art of carving the lovely wood of the olive tree dates back to some 400 years ago, when Franciscan monks began teaching wood carving to Christians in Bethlehem. Over the centuries this art has been passed down to generation after generation of Bethlehem craftsmen. Modern technology has somewhat speeded the production process but each piece still has to be hand-carved by a skilled carver with at least 6 or 7 years of training to get a truly quality product.
