A stunning set of 50's hand forged wrought iron candlesticks in the stark yet beautiful brutalist style. Produced in the post-war era, the style of brutalism was a reaction against the highly decorative and colourful style and architectural designs/eras which preceeded it. In contrast, the brutalist era showcased the naked beauty of stark lines, shapes and exposed concrete comprising a minimalist material or colour pallette.
These weighty candlesticks are perfectly assymetrical, one is slightly smaller and leaning a little more than the other and the stands show uneven forging. The tops feature circular hollows for the candles and the bases compose of three feet.
A beautiful set, perfect for the mantle piece, a centre table display or to add a touch of bedroom / bathroom mood lighting.
