Solid Brass Hanging Hurricane Candle Holder w/ simulated oil lamp ~ RARE Description : This vintage hurricane candle holder appears to have a simulated oil lamp on the opposite side.  The designer went so far as to hang a second, bowl under the candle to balance the concept.  Visually, one side a wax candle, the other an oil lantern.  When new, the candle holder most likely had a glass shade to sit in the 2" dia well, although the only other single reference I can find online neither shows or mentions one.  Crafted from ten (10) individual pieces of cast or turned solid brass (vs hollowware), it's a unique and HTF item for display or service. Condition : EUC. It polished up nicely as shown although some additional TLC would help.  O ther than the brass ring being slightly deformed and out-of-round, it's a beautiful example of Gatco India products.  The tarnish was minimal, there are no dents, cracks, scratches, bends, cross threads or other cosmetic / structural issues.  The black on gold OEM label remains attached inside the base and certifies: " [Logo] Gatco ~ Solid Brass ~ Made in India " Measures : 7" max width x 5-1/4" dia base (max depth) x 10-5/8" high (12-1/8" if hanging from ring) Uses a standard full size 3/4" taper candle. Weighs : 2 lbs 8.4 oz plus packaging Notes : Unless NIB, factory sealed or otherwise impractical, all items are washed and sanitized prior to photography. Moisture exposes crazing that otherwise may be invisible. All items are stored in a smoke and pet free environment.
