This Frankoma Pottery double
candle holder is in excellent condition and stands about 3 ⅞ inches tall and is
5 inches long at its base. According to the Collector’s Guide to Frankoma
Pottery by Gary V. Schaum, Frankoma made these double candle holders from
1936 to 1972. This particular candle holder is made of Ada clay which means it
had to have been made sometime between 1936 and 1954, the last year when Ada
clay was used. As to the glaze, our best
information is that the glaze is Red Bud used from 1948 to 1954. That means the
candle holder was made during that six year period, however a bidder will have
to form their own opinion. Note that in addition, to the impressed Frankoma
mark on the base there is also a partial gold label near the tallest holder. There
are no cracks, chips, hairlines or other non-production problems that we can
