Bottom of Tree Trunk is stamped 1987 (pre-kiln firing) by the potter/artist. Truly awe-inspiring how the artist combined an owl and it's natural habitat in such a skillful, flowing way. The owl is part of the tree...the tree is an owl...an amazing piece of art. The base tree trunk is part of the owl's body and the back of the owl's head has leaves painted on it to bring the whole owl-tree theme together perfectly. Owl Lovers who like to burn candles will be delighted with this piece!! There are several unique holes for the candle light to glow. Although I have not used a candle inside it to keep it free of wax for the buyer, I can imagine a beautiful scene of this piece flickering in the night with a warm glow... the peaceful sound of the candle burning slowly and smoke trickling from vent spaces in the trunk base and back of the owls' head.
