Arthur Court Designs launched and is located in California in 1966, and manufacturing is performed in various countries. This small, whimsical silver plated piece is heavy for its size (4 1/2" long, 3" wide and 1 3/4" high). It weighs over seven ounces, and is cast in a base metal from an organic design, created by hand, from the artist's imagination, in wax that melts when a mold is created. Hot metal was poured into the cavity of the mold, and then this piece was plated with silver. Its back mark is "Arthur C" and "1998." It was created as a salt & pepper holder, but those very small glass S & P cylinders have been separated from the piece. Other listings call this a "candle holder," and is, indeed, a very good , reimagined task for this small and interesting piece, using shorter taper candles for safety. Later Arthur Court pieces concentrated on using aluminum as a favored metal medium. Shipped with USPS.
