Griffin or gryphone item. That mythological beast, part eagle, part lion and dragon, with lion paws and bird wings and curved dragon tail and head, found in every culture in some form. This is so old, cast iron with original black painted finish, probably circa 1880 to 1910, and all original. It has the original bobeche and candle holder. It also has the original big flat single slotted screw holding the wing to the body. The bobeche and candle holder screw off for easy cleaning. This measures just under 6 inches high by 5.5" long and weighs approximately 1lb. unpackaged. It is guaranteed old, genuine and original and the patina is lovely. Chips can be seen in last 2 photos .
